For most people even vacation from “work” or “business” means that you simply do your domestic job full time instead of fitting it in the cracks of your working schedule. I recently made the decision to give myself an entire week off from EVERYTHING.
I went to Las Vegas with my hubs, leaving the kids behind for 4 days. When I returned they stayed in camp and I kept the babysitter on while I did… NOTHING. I read, ate, slept, meditated, did yoga and walked. That is it.
Then I took another week with my kids at the Jersey shore where I did my job as “mom” full time but did not look at emails or connect to the internet for another week. While I was away miraculous partnerships and opportunities unfurled in my business.
I’ll share more about what happened while I was away but the greatest benefit was that I feel connected to myself, my husband and my kids in a deeper way I can’t quite describe yet.
And I’m ready to hit the ground hard tomorrow when I return to “worky-work”. I’m excited about the new ideas I’ve had popping for live events and a book ready to be birthed. None of that would be possible without stepping away from my life and work completely.
What about you? Are you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed or even bored? It may be time to give yourself some time off. When was the last time you had a day off?
