I just returned from Tory Johnson’s incredible Spark & Hustle Conference in NYC. Although the conference presenters were there to talk about small business growth opportunities the amazing lessons they were offered can easily be adopted by anyone who has a dream.
Tory’s underlying message is that when you have a Spark of an idea you simply need to be prepared to Hustle and you can make that dream a reality. So here are 5 of my favorite takeaways that you can apply in any area of your life you want to be more fabulous:
1. “Your brilliance is released in an environment where you are celebrated not tolerated.” – Simon T. Bailey, Chief Brillioneer
Wow – How amazing is that?! Think about your life right now. How many people are celebrating you? How many are tolerating you? It is time to cut some of those toleraters loose. You’ve heard me preach about ending tolerations in your life. If you are simply tolerating a person or situation you either need to improve that relationship or end it. Simon’s teachings expand that in a much more powerful way by reminding you that you will shine when you surround yourself with people that celebrate you right back. If someone can’t see your brilliance and reminds you of that then stop spending time with that tolerater! You need to be celebrated not tolerated!!
2. “Do you rock or not?!” was the question posed by Mary van de Wiel of Zing Your Brand & Co.
Are you ready to own your true essence? To stand firmly for exactly who you are? It is a pretty scary thing to put the whole of who you are out there completely whether it be in business or in personal relationships but it truly is the key to success. No one will ever know how fabulous you are unless you let your true essence have room to shine! You do rock so let everyone know that!
3.“You can have it all as long as you don’t try to do it all!” – Nell Merlino
Are you trying to do it all right now? I know many women are. And it just isn’t possible. We love to control stuff and situations but as Nell said “control is an illusion.” It is time to ask for help. Your big dreams can never become a reality if you try to make them happen on your own. ASK FOR HELP!
4. “Done is good enough.” – Small Biz Lady
How many times have you remained stuck in the vicious loop of perfectionism? Waiting until your hair, the report or the house is perfect before you move onto the next step to is the biggest roadblock to greater joy and greater fulfillment. Small biz lady is right – if it is done then celebrate because it is time to move on!
5. “Your mind is wired to screw with you.” – Mel Robbins
Mel gave an inspiring presentation that was laced with sharp, honest comments designed to cut through all the b.s. The truth is our brains our wired to screw with us. If you are hearing the little voice that says “You’ll look foolish” “You’ll fail” “People will laugh at you” it is time to realize that voice is not you. That is the little part of your brain that evolved from amphibians. (Really!) It is the part of you that inherited the “I’m probably going to be eaten any minute” reality of our amphibious ancestors. But that just isn’t the reality of the human experience. Put that lizard to bed and take the next step even if it feels scary!
