At least not to me.
The results reflect what I hear from my clients and friends on a weekly basis. Many, many, many moms are frustrated, discouraged and some even believe if they had it to do all over again they’d choose differently.
And the worst part about this is most moms feel this way because they are working so hard to be a perfect mother and not spending enough time working towards being a happy mother, a healthy woman, a satisfied wife.
There is a lot of good that will come from this survey. It let’s so many woman recognize they are not alone. We are not failing as moms. There are no perfect mothers. As TODAY Moms senior editor Rebecca Dube commented:
“The revelations we uncovered in our survey should put a stake through the heart of the myth of the perfect mother. Moms everywhere are overwhelmed and they often feel like they’re the only ones — but our findings show that they’re not; everyone shares the same challenges. Whatever your mom confession is, someone out there is in the same boat — and talking about it makes moms feel a lot better!”
Am I thrilled with the fact that moms are overwhelmed? Absolutely not! But I also know that a mom first has to understand that it is okay to feel overwhelmed. A mom needs to know she is normal when she can’t get it all done. Once she figures that out, the answers that lead to greater happiness seem to appear like magic. At least that is how it worked for me.
