What does it mean to “reboot your career”? Is that even possible? Especially for a woman (and let’s not even talk about if that woman has kids or aging parents.) .
I’m often asked “how did you leave your corporate job to start your own company?” I think that question comes first because most people assume they know why I left. That person assumes I was unhappy with corporate life. The opposite was true.
The person asking is usually a woman still in a corporate position that no longer fulfills her or with a stressful schedule that keeps her from truly honoring her desire to care for and be with the people she loves.
I know that in the question the asker hopes she will find answers on how she can leave her own situation. What I always say is that once you know why you are leaving and commit to that path, how you will leave will feel like the easy question.
I truly believe most woman in corporate need to stay in corporate for many reasons. The life of an entrepreneur is not an easy one. The corporate world needs good woman. If we all leave, the corporate environment will not improve in the future.
But up until I received an advance copy of “Fearless and Free” I didn’t have a resource to provide these amazing beautiful strong corporate females. I didn’t have a book I could point to that I could say “Read this and you’ll find your answers! You’ll be inspired!”
But now I do. What I loved about this book is that it was easy to read. Often times when I receive an advance copy of a book it is not a book I would pick up on my own. The minute I opened to the first page Wendy Sachs pulled me into her world, her mission, her message.
The book is built on stories. And the stories do their job. If you are currently in a space where you want to reboot your career (and maybe even wonder what that is) check this book out! It’s awesome!
