If you’ve been following along on my emails the last couple of months you know I’ve been in the process of interviewing and hiring multiple team members.
If you are like me you weren’t raised to invest in support. Which is crazy because we each have our own gifts and skills. When we focus our time and energy on what we do well and allow others to do what they do well we all thrive.
I’m excited to say that we have hired 3 new team members bringing our grand total of Team Patty to 10 awesome people – each of us doing what we love to do best! I’ll be introducing everyone to you soon but in the meantime I wanted to share 3 key shifts I made that helped me allow in more support:
-
I got support to get support. I hired a consultant to work through all my plans for the year and help me figure out the team members we’d need and the qualities an ideal candidate would have. Doing this with someone supporting me lifted about 80% of the weight off my shoulders.
-
I felt my feelings. I know, I know – I talk about this all the time but I still need to learn it. As the emotions creeped up – fear, anxiety, hopelessness – I let them fill my body and breathed through them. Guess what? They didn’t stay and they showed me what I was ready to release (namely more toxic independence.)
-
I honored the “no’s”. As soon as I felt like someone wasn’t going to be a good fit I didn’t second guess it. This to me is one of the biggest reasons I see people end up with support that isn’t quite right. We worry that the right person isn’t out there so we immediately start “settling” before we even start. Honor what you truly need.
As you think about your goals for this year is there somewhere that you know you need to invest in support? If so, I hope these shifts help you make more powerful decisions!
And if you have a business and would like help developing this “CEO mindset” and bringing on a strong Virtual Assistant who can be your right hand I highly recommend Jen Lehner’s training Solopreneur to CEO Secrets which starts next week. Jen is one of my biz besties and also a Queen when it comes to leveraging her time.

Wishing you a year filled with loads of support and love!
