Two weeks ago, I experienced one of those magical moments you dream of.
I received my book manuscript back from my editor. I had been fearing it wasn’t as good as I wanted but with a deadline fast approaching, I had resigned myself to “done is good enough.”
Then something unbelievable happened. I started to read it and it was… gulp … good!
By the end, I realized it wasn’t just good. It was really good.
I couldn’t believe I was holding the book I dreamed up years ago. It was exactly what I wanted for the reader. To share my journey honestly and give the tools to help others create space for magic in their lives.
To celebrate, I spent the next 24 hours watching as much Netflix as I wanted!!!
Then something mysterious happened. I woke up feeling terrible the next day.
My mind began to fixate on minor issues with the house. I started worrying about the kids and school. Before I knew it I had pulled myself down a dark tunnel of negative energy.
Luckily, I understand how limits work and how to use magic to break through them. I took a step back and said “Whoa what’s going on here?”
I hadn’t felt this bad in a really long time and it was all over – nonsense.
I quickly realized I had hit an upper limit in my own success. My book!
That book was something I had only dreamed of…but now that the book was a reality, and it was a really good book, my brain was having a hard time believing it. So it did what all brains have been trained to do to keep us safe.
It found something to worry about so my “unbelievable” success wouldn’t disappoint me.
Using a few tools I was able to pivot out of that darkness and (here’s the cool part), let in even more magic.
First, I recognized that receiving how good the book is brought up an old rejected self…the braggart. This is the part of me that I want to reject but I need in order to build confidence and make investments in my future, my team, and my work.
Second, I took time to rest and integrate this part of me. Learning to integrate our rejected selves is a big part of making space for magic.
Within 48 hours, my energy was back and I found myself feeling the juice of having created something I’m really proud of. Plus, some really magical things took place:
- A NYT best selling author said she’d be thrilled to give me a testimonial for the book.
- My son landed a job he loved.
- My husband (unknowingly) felt my newfound energy and told me he couldn’t take his eyes off of me.
- A large sum of money came in.
Before I learned how to make space for magic, I never could have broken through that limit so easily. But now that I understand the process, blocks and negative thinking are welcome teachers showing me where to grow next.
If you sense that you’ve got a story like mine…you KNOW you’ve been hitting your limits but you’re not sure how to break through…I’d love to invite you to my upcoming free training series, Make Space for Magic.
In this series, I’m going to show you exactly how to clear the limits holding you back.
