Apparently, I need a brow perm

I got my eyebrows tinted.

For some people, this is a normal part of their routine. For me? It was a big step. I don’t enjoy a lot of “primping,” if you know what I mean.

My eyebrow person has been begging me to tint them for years. Apparently, my light blond eyebrow color pains her. “Your eyebrows could be so pretty…”

Whatever, lady—they’re just eyebrows.

But I finally said yes. Not for the beauty, honestly, but for efficiency. With everything going on, one less step in my makeup routine sounded like a win.

And you know what? I love them.

But the moment she finished, she said, “Your eyebrows don’t lay flat. We could perm them next time.”

Excuse me?

A brow perm? That’s going to be a hard no.

I started laughing—partly at the suggestion, and partly at the absurdity of how far apart our beauty barometers are. She’s magnificent at what she does, and I love her for it. Her passion for perfect brows is what makes her great. But there was something about that moment that stuck with me.

It was such a clear reflection of how different our inner worlds can be.

To her, suggesting a brow perm was completely reasonable. To me, it was like asking someone scared of heights if they want to skydive tomorrow.

And it made me think: How often are we offered something that just doesn’t fit—but we say yes anyway because we don’t want to offend? Or we almost say yes, because we forget that “no” is allowed?

In the past, I might’ve felt the need to justify or soften my “no.” Now? I can just smile and say it. I can honor her intention and honor myself.

This is what I’m always trying to live and teach: you can appreciate someone’s gifts without handing over your inner authority.

That’s especially true for anything I offer—like the Ireland retreat later this month. If it speaks to your soul, I’d love to welcome you. It’s going to be a beautiful, powerful day.

And if it’s not for you? That’s okay too. Truly.

In fact, if I ever say something that doesn’t sit right with you—about a program, a message from Spirit, or anything else—please trust your own “hard no.”

That wisdom is worth more than anything I could ever give you.

With love,
Patty

P.S. There are just a few spots left for the one-day retreat in Ireland on June 28th. If your soul is whispering yes, now’s the time.
