Last week I attempted to do something I should never do – touch the back end of my technology systems. *Sigh* it was me that emailed you about the training I’m doing this week and gave you the wrong link.
The thing is – I KNOW better than to do things that are way outside my zone of genius. In fact, I’ve talked to you before about all the things that go wrong when I try to do anything tech. Yet there I was – sticking my fat fingers in the mix.
My “reason” for doing it “by myself” was that I wrote the email late and wanted it to go out before the weekend. It felt unfair charging my team with a last-minute task (although they said they would have been happy to get it out.)
Do you ever do that? Do something yourself because you’re impatient even though you KNOW you should ask for help? And you almost always regret it, right?!
I worked myself out of this habit years ago and yet here I am slipping back into really bad old routines. The good news is that the Universe always has our back when we get off course! First, it will give us a nudge. Then it sort of taps us on the shoulder and says “you are going the wrong way.”
Ideally, we pick up on one of these signals but when we don’t The Universe will inevitably hit us over the head.
When I thought about sending the email myself I got a little tightness in my chest. (That is the nudge.). I pushed through it and sent the email anyway. So the Universe made sure I failed by having my links go to the wrong place. (That’s the tap.). I can keep doing what I’m doing but I’ve learned better.
I am going to take a huge step away from the tech and let my team handle this because I do not want to get hit over the head by the BIG U! This email is being delivered to you care of one of my team members 🙂
What about you? Are you trying to get something done when you know you should be asking for help? Pushing against flow never works well and inevitably if we keep trying the Universe (for our own benefit) is going to shut it down. So why not avoid getting hit over the head and look for help?
