Just as my business started to grow my husband lost his job. With the loss of our financial stability I had to decide whether to give up on a big dream I had to launch a conference.
Running a first-year conference is a risk and using our family’s finances to fund that risk just didn’t seem like the right choice for our family at the time. Giving up on the dream didn’t feel right either. When I learned about crowdfunding it became the answer to a puzzle that had once felt impossible to solve.
In researching many crowdfunding campaign I had read many stories of campaign fails. I researched past campaigns to find out why some were wildly successful while many were complete failures. Then I used those strategies to create a solid marketing and social media plan to drive people to my campaign page, and it worked! I raised the money I needed to plan the Mom Gets A Biz Conference and attracted sponsorships as a result of the crowdfunding campaign. I learned that a campaign doesn’t end when the donation period expires, IF you do it right by leveraging that success and exposure to continue raising funds. With my campaign and sponsors, I raised $45,00 and had a successful crowdfunding campaign under my belt.
Crowdfunding made what was impossible become possible so it was only natural that I would fall in love with this brilliant marketing strategy!
Since then, I’ve interviewed major crowdfunding founders to find their insider secrets to successful crowdfunding campaigns. I’ve enjoyed coaching other entrepreneurs through successful crowdfunding—before, during, and after the campaign—and have created the Crowdfund With Ease program to make it accessible to a wider audience.
Now as a recognized crowdfunding expert, I am the go-to speaker on the subject for many conferences. I’ve also written a book on the subject, The Crowdfunding Book: A How-To Book For Entrepreneurs, Writers and Inventors.
